Winner of important awards including the Busoni Prize, Giuseppe Andaloro will return to the side of the Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina to let us listen to the last - and best known - of Beethoven's five concertos for piano and orchestra. The work, handed down under the nickname “The Emperor” - the reference, never confirmed, would be to Napoleon Bonaparte - is characterized, especially in the first movement, by the military air, by the epic breath and by the timbre of the piano.
In some passages the Fifth Concerto also anticipates the modes of the Romantic Concerto, without prejudice to the known and commonly preferred characters of Beethoven's art, the so-called second style, that of the Third and Fifth Symphony.
Fifth symphony which, not surprisingly, completes the program of the two evenings.
On the podium will go up Giuseppe Lanzetta, founder and permanent conductor of the Florentine Chamber Orchestra: Lanzetta boasts an international career that has led him to conduct, among others, the Berliner Symphoniker and the Berliner Philarmoniker Chamber Orchester, the National Opera Orchestra Russa, the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, the Johannes Strauss in Vienna, the Atlanta Symphony and other prestigious ensembles. Since 2013 he has been Principal Guest Director of MidAmerica Productions at Carnegie Hall in New York.
The 41st season of the Fiorentina Chamber Orchestra will continue until October. Among the guests the pianist Chiara Saccone (22 and 23 May), the violinist Francesco Manara and the cellist Massimo Polidori (29 and 30 May), the conductor Gianna Fratta (22/23 June), the bandonist Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi (20/21 July, homage to Astor Piazzolla on the centenary of his birth), the pianist Bruno Canino (10/11 October). The collaboration with the Italian Brass Week (August, Bargello Museum) has been confirmed, while for the extra-cultured repertoire, by popular demand, the Bohemian Fantasy evening dedicated to the music of Queen (3 July).
The new season of the Florentine Chamber Orchestra is organized with the support of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, the Tuscany Region, the Metropolitan City of Florence, the Municipality of Florence and - in art bonus - the CR Firenze Foundation and Banca Intesa San Paolo.
