Chamber orchestras and ensembles protagonists of the first part of the "Musical Wednesdays of the organ and surroundings", a Florentine festival born from the ten-year experience of the "Musical Wednesdays of the CR Firenze Foundation" - dedicated to organ music - and of Toscana Classica, a production association music that promotes and encourages the professional activity of young musicians, singers and musical realities operating in Italy and beyond.

Under the sign of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the double inaugural appointment on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 May at the Auditorium of Santo Stefano al Ponte, together with the Orchestra di Toscana Classica directed by Damiano Tognetti.
At the center of the evenings the “Sinfonia Concertante K 297b”, - pivotal work for wind soloists, rich in shades ranging from lyrical to playful tones - and the “Symphony n. 29 ”, with which the eighteen year old Mozart began to mark the distance from that Italian style, and from its decorative elements, which we find in previous works.
Soloists Davide Guerrieri on oboe, Francesco Darmanin on clarinet, Andrea Mugnaini on horn and Riccardo Rinaldi on bassoon.

Concerts start at 19.30 until new anti-Covid provisions. It is recommended to purchase tickets (20/15 euros) in advance, online at www.ticketone.it and at Box Office Toscana points. A 40% discount is reserved for Unicoop Firenze members and holders of the “Firenze Card” of the Municipality of Florence. Reduced ticket to 10 euros for subscribers to the Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina newsletter (for info and registration orchestra.camerafiorentina@gmail.com ).

Fritz Kreisler and Astor Piazzolla, Sting and the Beatles. Brilliant program, devoted to contemporary and in particular to dances, the one chosen by the Amitié Quartet for the concert on Saturday 5 June at the Auditorium di Santo Stefano. Outlining arias of waltz, tango and pop are the violins of Marco Lorenzini and Claudio Freducci, the viola of Camilla Insom and the cello of Sandra Bacci.

Another leap into the extra-cultured, this time towards South America. The Latin American tradition - from "La cumparsita" to "Manha do carnaval", from "Reir Llorando" to "Alfonsina y el mar" - relives in a symphonic version, Sunday 6 June at the Auditorium of Santo Stefano al Ponte: the Soloists on stage of Classical Tuscany.

Orio Odori's clarinet in the foreground on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 June at the Auditorium of Santo Stefano al Ponte Vecchio, for the double concert of the Orchestra di Toscana Classica. To enhance Odori's gifts is Mozart's "Concerto for clarinet and orchestra K 622". We will also listen to the Overture from “La finta giardiniera” and the “Serenata nocturnal n. 6 ". The ensemble is also joined by the percussionist Sergio Odori, while Marco Alibrando takes the podium.

Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 June the festival moves to the wonderful Michelozzo Courtyard of Palazzo Medici Riccardi: on the 200th anniversary of the birth of Giovanni Bottesini, the Orchestra di Toscana Classica pays homage to the "Paganini of the double bass", calling on another ace of the instrument, this time nowadays: Alberto Bocini, who is also entrusted with the role of conductor.

From Bottesini to Vivaldi, with the Solisti di Toscana Classica: the evening of Thursday 8 July is dedicated to the “red priest”, again at the Auditorium of Santo Stefano al Ponte. On stage Neri Nencini and Ludovico Mealli on violins, Davide Guerrieri on oboe, Riccardo Rinaldi on bassoon, Raffaele Chieli and Maria Rossi on trumpets. On the program, among others, the "Concerto for 2 violins, strings and basso continuo in A minor RV 522" - from the collection "L'estro armonico" - the "Concerto for bassoon, strings and harpsichord n.4 in C major RV 474 ”and the“ Concerto in D major for two trumpets, strings and continuo, RV 781 ”.

The first tranche of the "Musical Wednesdays of the organ and surroundings" closes on Sunday 11 and Monday 12 July in the Courtyard of the Bargello Museum: the theme this time is George Gershwin, and it is an opportunity to listen to "Embraceable You", "Summertime ”And other cornerstones of the father of the American musical. Conducted by Biagio Ilacqua, the Orchestra di Toscana Classica is embellished by the pianist Fernando Ramsés Peña Díaz and the voice of Elena Di Leo.

The second part of the festival, scheduled after the summer at the Auditorium of the CR Firenze Foundation, will be reserved for the organ and its greatest virtuosos at an international level.
