Organ concerts return to the Auditorium

Organ concerts are back at the Auditorium of the CR Firenze Foundation. After a long pause due to the Covid emergency, the pipes of the majestic Tamburini organ of the Auditorium will vibrate again on Wednesday 22 September (9 pm). The German organist Ulfert Smidt, owner of the great Goll organ of the Marktkirche in Hanover, will inaugurate the new course.
The first part of the concert will focus on Romantic and Late Romantic composers such as Max Reger, Joseph Gabriel Rheinberger and Nadia Boulanger. Closing in the sign of the Baroque and of Johann Sebastian Bach with three Choral Preludes from the Leipzig manuscript and the “Toccata and Fugue in F major, BWV 540”.
A pupil of Ulrich Bremsteller, Ulfert Smidt studied organ and sacred music at the Hochschule fur Musik in Hanover. He then studied with Piet Kee and Ewald Kooiman in Amsterdam. After important assignments in Holzminden and Bremen, in 1996 he was appointed titular organist at the Marktkirche in Hanover. In addition to the intense concert activity, he directs international festivals and reviews. Ulfert Smidt has numerous record releases to his credit, dedicated in particular to romantic (Brahms, Franck), 20th century (F. Martin) and German Baroque authors. With these recordings he obtained the "Echo" prize and, twice, the "German record critics prize". He teaches organ and organ repertoire at the Hochschule für Musik in Hanover.

Roman Perucki, director of the oldest organ festival in Poland and official organist of the Cathedral of Oliwa, will play on Wednesday 13 October at the Auditorium of the CR Firenze Foundation as part of the “Musical Wednesdays of the organ and surroundings” festival.
Born from the ten-year experience of the "Musical Wednesdays of the CR Firenze Foundation" and of Toscana Classica, the "Musical Wednesdays of the organ and surroundings" festival is supported by the CR Firenze Foundation with the contribution of Intesa Sanpaolo and the Ministry of Culture, Tuscany Region , Municipality of Florence and Metropolitan City of Florence, which also grants patronage.
