Florence, Monday 9 July 2018 - A contemporary work to support a new humanism based on the values of brotherhood, solidarity, respect for diversity: elements of personal and collective regeneration.
Magnificent oratory composed by Claudio Fabi on texts by Carmen Fernandez, "Anima Mundi" is staged Sunday, July 15th in the Great Courtyard of Santa Maria Novella (beginning at 21), in the context of the Florentine Summer promoted by the City of Florence. Claudio Fabi himself will be on the podium of the Florentine Chamber Orchestra while the direction of the Choral Society Choir Giacomo Puccini is entrusted to Maestro Walter Marsili.
Divided into five musical paintings (The Creation - Anima Mundi - The Burning Flame - The Pillars of the Earth - Lux Hominis), "Anima Mundi" describes metaphorically different moments of the journey of the Spirituality of Man throughout history and is inspired and dedicated to the humanistic values of our existence.
Opera for choir, orchestra and soloist voices (mezzo-soprano and baritone), it was composed in Spain in 1999 on the occasion of the Holy Jubilee, to celebrate the "Camino de Santiago" and for the project "Catedrales para el Milenio", sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Spanish education. Between 2000 and 2001 it was performed in 17 Spanish cathedrals including Santiago de Compostela, Toledo, Palma de Mallorca, Leon, Salamanca, Pamplona, Segovia.
In 2013 it was presented for the first time in Italy, with huge success, in an event to support the flooded populations of the Maremma, in front of over four thousand people in the square of the Orbetello cathedral, with the participation, among others, of Niccolò Fabi, Nada , Rossana Casale, Alberto Fortis, Veronica Visconti and Matteo Becucci.
The event will feature on stage the solo voices Mattia Braghero, Beatrice Innocenti, Giulia Vestri and Jampa Capolongo, as well as the soloists Patricia Garcia-Gil (Pianoforte), Federico Mariano (Classical Guitar), Filippo Ciampi and Alberto Checcacci (Acoustic Guitars) ), Marco Nazzeri (Keyboards) and Marco Fanciullini (Percussions), all artists of the Campus della Musica, project of management and development of emerging musical talent, unique in Europe, based in Florence.
"I have always stood for the values of humanism, I have always seemed to be the only ones that can make sense of the human species" - says Claudio Fabi - "They have been written, divulged, defended also with the life of many men during the centuries, but then collide, especially in these times we are living, with the paucity of our being, that part of us that does not identify with these values but rather does not even consider them. With Anima Mundi, Carmen Fernandez, as the author of the texts, and I began, with the occasion of the change of century and the Jubilee of Santiago de Compostela, a path to contribute to their diffusion, a dissemination that should be a mission for those who today represent Culture and for this we are very happy to be able to present Anima Mundi in Florence. We are convinced that Culture contributes to social and human regeneration and I, as an Italian citizen, particularly in this moment of separation, conflict, violence, mistrust and exclusion, have a personal and ethical compromise with this goal ".
