A piano recital for the left hand only, the one that Giovanni Nesi will propose on Sunday 15 May at the Orsanmichele Museum in Florence (9 pm), as part of the 2022 season of the Florentine Chamber Orchestra.
Among the most interesting pianists of his generation, Giovanni Nesi is following a neuro-rehabilitation therapy to heal from a focal dystonia in his right hand: the musician's dystonia, as it is called.
What began as a physical difficulty has become almost a resource for the Florentine artist. It's a challenge.

In “Left hand” - this is the title of the project, also immortalized on CD - Giovanni Nesi focuses on the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, the transcriptions from the cello suites and the Chaconne transcribed by Brahms, Skrjabin, Schumann and Shostakovich, Wittgenstein. "Authors united by tenacity and fortitude - explains Nesi - always with the intention of writing music for the left hand: Skriabin suffered an injury to his right hand, Wittgenstein even lost it".

Also at the Orsanmichele Museum, on Monday 16 May at 9 pm, Christian Riganelli's accordion and Fabio Battistelli's clarinet offer a “Journey around the world”, through music by Astor Piazzolla, Ennio Morricone, Richard Galliano and Riganelli himself.
