At the Off Bar the tribute to the director with the presence of his son Pippo interviewed by journalist and film critic Giovanni Bogani. Free entry.

Monday 1st July, 9.30 pm , Off Cinema pays tribute to the maestro Franco Zeffirelli , with the screening of one of his masterpieces: La Bisbetica Domata .
This special evening will see as a guest the director's son, Pippo, with whom we will have the pleasure of talking before the screening, together with journalist and film critic Giovanni Bogani.

Off Cinema thanks the Zeffirelli Foundation for their work and great collaboration.
The film, shot in the Roman studios Dino De Laurentiis , was amazingly directed by Franco Zeffirelli, who established himself internationally after his film debut with Camping in 1957.
Set in 16th-century Padua, the film adheres to the text of Shakespeare's famous comedy, while presenting an excellent film script enriched with details and spectacular sets. The merit of the director, in fact, is to allow the viewer, not only to experience the skirmishes and quarrels between the two protagonists, but to let him know the environments and the social atmosphere of the time.
However, Zeffirelli's is not just a simple exercise in style: the choice to focus on a passionate couple as much as turbulent as the one formed by Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton is a winner, as the two actors succeed in bringing back to life that lively look and vivacity on the screen of the original text.
The film is a brilliant and amusing comedy, full of comic elements and compelling above all in the fight sequences between the spouses and in the most sentimental tones of the final part. The Burton-Taylor couple seems to take advantage of it to pour the screenings of their private life onto the screen: both top-level actors, one is the other's shoulder.
Franco Zeffirelli has not only imagination and a brilliant sense of the show, but also the right amount of aggression that allows him to believe in his work to the full: a compelling and convincing film, certainly a cornerstone of his filmography.

The Off Cinema review, sponsored by the Municipality of Florence, is dedicated to expanded cinema through the screening of fiction and documentaries ranging from Italian and international cinema, organized in collaboration with associations in the audiovisual sector, directors and professionals in the sector.
