To bring to light the violent aspects of our present, through the rewriting of Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus. “Twice Tito - Surviving the tragedy” is the show of the Avamposti Teatro Festival scheduled for Friday 23 and Saturday 24 September at the Goldoni Theater in Florence, with a regional premiere.
A project that speaks of fathers, sons and daughters, of the violent implosion that is generated in the clash between a collapsing world that does not want to give up and a world unable to emerge. Four young actors on stage: Francesco Aricò, Diana Bettoja, Federico Gariglio, Valeria Girelli. Dramaturgy by Francesca Mignemi and Eleonora Paris, directed by Virginia Landi.
Ancient Shakespearean Rome meets, in rewriting, the contemporary Western world. The violence that takes place between the pages of that ancient tragedy is the same violence that, in a now visible and now invisible way, springs from the patriarchal system at the base of our society. A world to be rebuilt starting from the rubble of the one that has just collapsed. Among the ruins, the hands look for the bodies: they are the hands of the children, they are the bodies of the fathers. A cry, like a flash of light in the night: it is a newborn, the only survivor we welcome, a helpless witness to our history.
"The intent is to re-read the story of Tito Andronicus from several points of view - explain the authors Francesca Mignemi and Eleonora Paris and the director Virginia Landi, all graduates from the Civic School of the Paolo Grassi Theater in Milan - in an attempt to bring out and criticize the social conditioning and models that found Western culture ".
