Back after the success of last season in Rome and throughout Italy ADD A PLACE TO THE TABLE, one of the most beloved Italian musical comedies that Alessandro Longobardi has brought back to the scene in all its splendor. The comedy signed by Pietro Garinei and Sandro Giovannini was written with Jaja Fiastri all three unsurpassed protagonists of a legendary era for Italian theater. The music, composed by Armando Trovajoli, has enchanted entire generations.
Represented for the first time in 1974, it was an unprecedented success, with hundreds of thousands of enthusiastic spectators, establishing itself on the international scene with over 30 editions and about 15 million spectators, in England, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Portugal, Spain, Russia , Hungary, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Venezuela, Finland.
Gianluca Guidi takes care of the staging of this show, making use of an excellent creative cast composed by the legendary choreographer Gino Landi, assisted by Cristina Arrò; from the musical director Maurizio Abeni, former assistant of Armando Trovajoli, who directs the live orchestra; by the set designer Gabriele Moreschi, who adapted the original design by Giulio Coltellacci of the famous and ingenious set design, with the double revolving and the large ark; from costume designer Francesca Grossi who adapted the original designs of the refined costumes, always by Coltellacci. The lighting design is by Umile Vainieri; the phonic design is by Emanuele Carlucci; the realization of the video contributions is by Claudio Cianfoni. The scene was created by Mario Amodio's scenotecnica, which was the builder in the first edition and by Antonio Dari for the mechanical part; the costumes from the Brancaccio Sartoria.
In the artistic cast Gianluca Guidi, legitimate heir of his father Johnny Dorelli protagonist of the first edition, as in 2009 confirms in the role of Don Silvestro. Enzo Garinei after 500 performances as Mayor Crispino, this time is "La voce di Lassù"; Emy Bergamo, after the interpretation of Rosetta in Rugantino and Adelina in E ... if time was a shrimp? It is Consolation. Crispino is played by Marco Simeoli, who in the fifth edition had already played alongside Gianluca Guidi as Toto, whose role is now entrusted to the young and brilliant Piero Di Blasio.
The role of Clementina the very young Camilla Nigro, Ortensia, wife of Crispino, is played by Francesca Nunzi. The ensemble consists of 17 artists, singers, dancers.
The musical comedy is produced by Officine del Teatro Italiano in collaboration with Viola Produzioni. After the success with Rapunzel the musical (2014), Sister act the musical (2015), Peter Pan the musical (2016), The Last Witch (2016), And ... if the time was a shrimp? (2016), The Ice Queen the musical (2017), Alessandro Longobardi confirms the quality and efficiency of the production hub coordinated by Carlo Buttò.
The story, freely inspired by David Forrest's "After Me the Deluge", narrates the adventures of Don Silvestro, a parish priest of a mountain village, who one day receives an unexpected phone call: God personally instructs him to build a new ark for save himself and his whole country from the imminent second flood. The young parish priest, helped by his countrymen, succeeds in his business, despite the greedy mayor Crispino who will try to obstruct him in every way and the arrival of Consolation, a woman of easy customs, who will put a strain on the men of the country, but he will fall in love with Toto and will accept to marry him.
When the time came to get on the ark, a cardinal sent from Rome persuaded the people of the country not to follow Don Silvestro, accusing him of madness, so that on the ark, under the deluge, only he and Clementina, the young daughter of the mayor always hopelessly in love with him. However, the young curate decides not to abandon his country and his friends and God, seeing his project fail, he stops the deluge. To toast the happy ending Don Silvestro adds a seat at the table for ... He!
