A man and a woman. He's a middle-aged professor, or maybe he's just someone who loves to talk about philosophy. She is a girl: she is young, nervous, sensitive, sometimes she lets herself go to sudden flashes of vulgarity. They are located in the same place, the blades of a fan mark the time they have the opportunity to spend together. Around, some objects: books, a blonde wig, a key, a chair, glasses. And a gun.

Anything can happen: joy and pain, love, violence, confidence and distance, hatred and compassion. Life and death. It is possible to understand or ignore oneself; you can decide to remain unknown or to name yourself. Words come from the heart or from the taste for bookish quotations: “Once is no time”. Concepts and feelings mix, the result is a tangle of identity, a skein to unravel, the need for an act that is clear and definitive, which leads to the discovery of the place where life flows and always repeats itself at the same time.

Marco Calvani, writer, director, translator. Le Mani Forti is the first of his texts to be represented in much of Europe. Commissions follow from the Phoenix Theater in London, from the La MaMa Theater in New York, from the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris and from the Grec Fundaciò in Barcelona. Other texts include: Olio (Teatro India, Rome; Teatro Out Off, Milan; Robert Moss Theater, NY), Penelope in Groznyj (Kunsthaus Tacheles, Berlin; Napoli Teatro Festival Italia, Teatro Vascello, Rome), Nails (Fringe Festival Madrid; Galleria Toledo, Naples; Mendes Theater, Rio de Janeiro), Stuff of This World (Spoleto Festival; Conde Duque, Madrid; La MaMa Theater), Before We Fall Asleep (Vrystaat Arts Festival, South Africa). He wrote and directed The View From Up Here with Oscar winner Melissa Leo. Lives and works between New York and Paris
