Strengthened by the success of the past year - sold out every evening - the Belvedere Terrace of the Bardini Garden (Costa San Giorgio, 2) in Florence returns to host the film festival "Cinema in villa", from 6 July to 22 August . The initiative is promoted and organized by the CR Firenze Foundation and the Bardini and Peyron Monumental Parks Foundation in collaboration with the Musart Cultural Association and with the patronage of the Municipality of Florence.

The evenings - around 50 appointments - are held in full compliance with the safety provisions due to Covid. The ticket costs, like last year, 5 euros (excluding the special evening of Wednesday 14 July which costs 15 euros); the seats are numbered and are assigned at the time of purchase; the sessions respect interpersonal distancing. Advance purchase is strongly recommended on the website www.cinemainvilla.it.

The Thursday appointment "Cinema in famiglia" has been confirmed with free admission for parents and children; the two foundations bear the cost of the ticket. In this case, free tickets can be booked on the website www.villabardini.it .

Telephone info-line at 393 8570925, every evening from 6 to 10 pm. It is possible to park for free at the Forte di Belvedere car park.

The program

The programming, curated by the Niels Stensen Cultural Foundation, offers an overview of the most significant films of the recent production, collected by themes and audiences: Mondays are dedicated to Sean Connery and the Danish director Thomas Vinterberg - Oscar award “Another round” (July 12). On Tuesdays tribute to jazz on the big screen (in collaboration with Music Pool) from Paolo Conte (6 July) to Enrico Rava (27 July). Every Wednesday titles from literary texts - among them, "Nomadland" (7 July) and "The mystery Henri Pick" (18 August), in collaboration with the festival 'The city of readers' which will be held in Villa Bardini from 26 to August 29. On Thursday, as mentioned, it offers films for families, from "The Little Prince" (July 15) to "The Call of the Forest" (August 19). Friday film in original language with Italian subtitles: "The Competition" (9 July), "Downton Abbey" (6 August) .... French cinema starring on Saturdays - from "A sofa in Tunis" (10 July) to "The best is yet to come" (14 August) - while Sundays squeeze the eye to the world of fashion: from "A single man" (11 July) to "Personal Shopper" (22 August).

Special events

Inauguration on Tuesday 6 July with “Paolo Conte. Via con me ”, director Giorgio Verdelli participates in the evening. Wednesday 14 July preview of the film “So it is (or I think)” by Elio Germano, with special viewers for virtual reality. On the other hand, Folco Terzani introduces the film “The end is my beginning” on Wednesday 21 July. “Trash - the legend of the magic pyramid” is the animated film that teaches the good practices of recycling, Thursday 29 July, in the presence of directors Luca Della Grotta and Francesco Dafano.

'' We are very pleased - declared the Presidents of the CR Firenze Foundation Luigi Salvadori and of the Bardini Monumental Parks Foundation and Peyron Jacopo Speranza - to be able to offer, also this summer, the most spectacular film arena in Florence. With the fading of the pandemic, Villa Bardini has once again become one of the most important landmarks of the Florentine summer. Strengthened by the approval of last year, we gladly repeated the free appointment for families because we are very pleased to be able to offer them a moment of intelligent distraction after these months of great fear ''.

"For the second consecutive year - underlines the councilor for culture of the Municipality of Florence Tommaso Sacchi - this summer cinema arena is renewed in an extremely suggestive place, a cultural space that is re-proposed to the city and which offers a mix of quality titles and a unique terrace overlooking Florence. In this summer of cautious optimism after the pandemic, we can only be happy that initiatives of this type are flourishing, offering valid cultural alternatives in complete safety ”.
