A moment of meeting, knowledge, celebration, reflection and growth. At Le Murate Progetti Arte Contemporanea comes the third edition of Diffrazioni Firenze Multimedia Festival, whose "first part" will be held from 12 to 16 December (free admission).
Diffrazioni Festival is made possible thanks to the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory of Florence, with the contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio Foundation of Florence, under the patronage of the Municipality of Florence and with the collaboration of MUS. And, Le Murate.Progetti Arte Contemporanea and of New York University.
A cultural project, conceived and directed by the composer Alfonso Belfiore, professor of the Cherubini Conservatory, which bases its foundations on artistic experimentation in several fields: from sound to light, from technology to science. a week full of events that will involve many internationally renowned artists, who will bring in the Florentine setting a cultural level increase of great level.
Among the most important events are the inaugural concert S.ilk On S.kin (Wednesday 12 December at 9:30 pm) which will see the Director of the Conservatory Paolo Zampini on the flute and Roberto Neri on the electronics, as well as the participation of Elena Tereshchenko ( reciting voice) and Anna Tereshchenko (direction). During the concert will be performed pieces of the same Zampini, Ennio Morricone, Giacinto Scelsi, Mario Davidovsky and Paul Horn.
Among the audiovisual installations that can be visited from 4 pm to 11 pm on every day of the festival, one dedicated to the artist Marino Marini, an audiovisual directed by Massimo Tarducci with original music by Alfonso Belfiore realized with the contribution of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze, Marino Marini Foundation and Toscana Film Commission.
Also by Alfonso Belfiore is the composition and direction of the multimedia concert The Waste Land (Thursday, December 14 at 9 pm), performance by reciting voice, percussion, fixed media and live electronics. A poem that entire generations will take as a symbol of themselves. Thomas Stearns Eliot conceived it during a trip to Provence, extending it almost in Lausanne, in 1920, but before seeing the light he passed under the scissors of Ezra Pound that made him even more enigmatic and allusive. It is divided into five sections where the characters and places of the others intersect each other, a constant tension towards the myth, or rather, the creation of a real mythical land that becomes the sum of every myth and every tension.
This first part of Diffrazioni Festival is characterized by a polarity focused on technological and artistic musical experiences looking towards Astana (Kazakhstan) and at the same time towards Teheran (Iran). In the last two years, a privileged channel has been developed with Tehran's Reza Korourian Award festival, facilitating an exchange of works thus fostering the growth of mutual artistic knowledge. In this first part of Diffrazioni will be presented works by Mehdi Jalali, composer and artistic director of the festival as well as director of Yarava Music Group and Amin Khoshsabk, winner of the Iranian festival. The works of the two artists will be proposed Saturday, December 15 starting at 9.30pm along with those of many other composers and performers.
Fundamental for this project was the contribution of the musician Gelareh Soleimani Lavasani, already winner of the first edition of the RKC festival and the 8 ARTI cultural association.
The collaboration with the National University of the Arts of Kazakhstan in Astana led Aiman Mussakhajayeva, internationally renowned violinist Rector of Kazakh University and recent guest of the Strings City festival, to commission to the Maestro Alfonso Belfiore an interactive visual art work entitled " The signs of art "performed in Astana on May 18 in the presence of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbaev. A multimedia and interactive installation that will be shown again on Saturday, December 15 at 6 pm, with the screening of the national television broadcast aired in Kazakhstan.
The project, curated by Belfiore who led a team of students and former students of the Department of New Technologies and Musical Languages, allowed the Cherubini Conservatory of Florence to achieve a prestigious result and was accompanied by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the University of Astana and Cherubini itself for the realization of future joint projects involving students and teachers from both institutions.
A Festival, the Diffrazioni, in which there will be activities in which the viewer will be involved in the first person, many of the performances need the latter to start: from a simple touch on an ipad to the touch of a water source , from the use of technologies related to augmented reality to the recording of data or noises collected live and then be modified and become a musical flow.
The spaces of Le Murate / Progetti Arte Contemporanea will be the ideal setting to welcome the second part of the festival to be held from March 27 to 31, 2019. Among the most important contents that will be presented in the spring the interesting masterclass that, for six days Consecutive, the musician Esther Lamneck, a world-renowned performer of contemporary music and technology, will perform with a group of musicians, students of the highest level, guiding them to play together interacting with electronic and visual structures, thus composing improvisations where images, live music and registered will become one.
